A recent innovation in Japan has sent shockwaves throughout the tech community. Forget cold plunge pools – a new contender for relaxation and rejuvenation is emerging in the form of human washing machines.

What are Human Washing Machines?

According to reports from one of Japan’s oldest newspapers, Osaka-based shower head maker Science has developed a revolutionary contraption that redefines the concept of bathing. Dubbed ‘Mirai Ningen Sentakuki’ (human washing machine of the future), this apparatus is shaped like a cockpit and features a transparent cover.

How Do Human Washing Machines Work?

The process begins when a bather sits in a seat at the center of the human washing machine. The device fills with water to create an immersive bathing experience. Sensors are embedded within the contraption, measuring the person’s pulse and other biological data to ensure the temperature is perfectly adjusted.

Advanced Features for Enhanced Experience

Beyond its functional capabilities, Mirai Ningen Sentakuki also boasts a unique feature: projecting images on the inside of its transparent cover to stimulate the mind. This futuristic innovation aims to create an immersive experience that not only washes the body but also revitalizes the spirit.

A Future Without Human Washing Machines?

Although Science has developed this groundbreaking technology, there is a possibility it may never see commercial release. For now, the company’s plans appear limited to showcasing Mirai Ningen Sentakuki at an Osaka expo in April. The event will allow up to eight people to experience a 15-minute-long ‘wash and dry’ session after booking reservations.

A Home-Use Version: Coming Soon?

Reports indicate that Science is also working on a home-use version of the human washing machine. According to earlier literature from the company, its primary objective is not only to cleanse the body but also to rejuvenate the mind.

What Does This Mean for Humanity?

Human washing machines have the potential to redefine our relationship with bathing and relaxation. By integrating technology into this everyday activity, Science may be paving the way for a more holistic approach to self-care.
